Negatovas

This show presents a very gloomy universe, tending vertiginously toward an excess of darkness and “negativity.” However, my objective is to create a sharp contrast between this darkness and a comic aspect. The comedy will be an outgrowth of this excess but mostly of precise descriptions of the state of things, of attitudes, circumstances and gestures. The comedy will simply arise out of this precision.

By way of movement, I wanted to find how people can be touching and tender within an excess of darkness and negativity—with everything comic and tragic that this entails.

The negatovas would be

a

Horizon of expectations

Silent variety

Sloping forehead

Balance of a freestanding column

Vertigo starting at ground level

Habitual hitchhiker chicks ready to go off in any direction

Sieves constantly straining other identities

Experiencing the world as a collection of moments

Holding their breath for so long

Filled with their shaky pride

They would be living, vigilant, discreet

Statues inhabiting living bodies

Burning memories

Hallucinated faces

Head-on, they seem crushed

In profile, real monsters

Head-on, they’d go to prison

In profile, they’d wind up in a madhouse

Head like a fist at the end of a body

A nearly vertical line

A knot at the end of a rope

A head full of knots stolen from the dawn

They watch

Stranded or waiting for…

They look down or straight ahead

for they have long since learned not to look around

Indifference accentuates distance

Made of fragments

Dusty

Stricken with loss of identity

Solitary snoops

Their condition resembles something ugly

interrupted by a comical something-or-other

Desert sentinels

Environmental dependency syndrome

Their entire path is an attempted escape

Humanity adrift

Phosphorescent conversations

Dark ash heaps with feet

They internalise their shuffling

having no outward space in which to move

They seem as movement that does not move

and a path that leads nowhere

Between childhood and worry

Between violence and innocence

Between tenderness and sternness

Not allowing part of their personality

to be symbolically owned by another

Stony-gazed children, terribly vulnerable

Something is absent from their core

Observing the world and finding those who walk into the infinite

toward an absurd, undefined destiny
