Pavla BERANOVA

Light designer

Pavla Beranova was born in Prague, Czech republic in 1984. She achieved secondary education in Lycée Alphonse Daudet in Nîmes, France and continued to study in Czech republic (New media, curatorship of new media and design). She graduated from Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in 2009.

Even before finishing high-school Pavla started to work as lighting designer assistant in Théâtre de Nîmes in France and worked in this field ever since. As a lighting designer she had the chance to collaborate with different respected artists of contemporary theater and dance (Davik Radok, 420people, Shusaku Takeushi, Alessandro Carboni…) and on different stages (Archa theater in Prague, Czech National theater, Korzo theatre in Den Haag…). In spring 2011 she was awarded The Best lighting design prize in frame of Czech Dance Platform festival for her work on Sacrebleu, a solo by Natasa Novotna (420people).

Beside contemporary dance and theater Pavla works also in the field of exhibition lighting and design and she regularly contributes on projects exploring the boundaries between performance and installation.

Until september 2011 Pavla worked as a freelance lighting designer (theatre, contemporary dance and exhibitions) and as a technical director of 420PEOPLE dance company. Presently she is intern in ACT lighting design studio in Brussels.
