inoutput’s cofounder and co-artistic director, Andrea Messana is a photographer working in Belgium, France and Italy. With inoutput, he has co-led installation project CODE, the 2015 and 2016 MNF projects with the Royal Library of Belgium and a creative writing and photography workshop at Centre Culturel Le Senghor.
Andrea studied at the Fondazione Studio Marangoni in Florence (IT) and specialized in photography for art and the stage, obtaining an MA in Stage Photography from IED Milan. After a decade working as an assistant to Silvia Lelli and Roberto Masotti in Milan, his most notable collaborations are his work as archive assiatant at Magnum Photo Paris, his reportages at the Opéra National de Paris and with Pietro Pizzuti, Karine Ponties, Karin Coonrod and la Fabrique Autonome des Acteurs.
In his almost 20 years of wandering in the backstages of theatre, Andrea has worked with, among others, Bob Wilson, Luca Ronconi, MichRoberto deSimone, Maurizio Scaparro, Teatroi, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro della Pergola…
He has also taught at IED Milan and Venice, at LABA Firenze, at the Architecture Department of the University of Florence and festival “Focus on the Arts” in Chicago (IL).
