Ricardo Machado began dancing at the age of 18. His training included classical ballet, modern and contemporary dance and the Feldenkrais Method. In the space of just ten years, he worked with Aldara Bizarro, Né Barros, Nicolas Cantillon, Carlos Silva, Fernanda Fragateiro, Moncho Rodriguez, Victor Hugo Pontes, Rui Lopes Graça, Kurt Demey, Madalena Victorino and Karine Ponties.

Since 2006, he has collaborated regularly with Joana Antunes as a performer, co-author and assistant art director for performances such as Timemachine (2006), Tentativa X.S. e as luvas (2008), Fio Condutor (2008), Human Box (2009).

In 2009, together with Marielle Morales (Mala Hierba Dance Company) he performed and co-created Zaar for the Festival Balsa-Marni in Brussels.

In 2010, he worked with Companhia Movimento Incriativo on Ispirador, choreographed by Carlos Silva, before joining Companhia Olga Roriz to dance A Sagração da Primavera in Lisbon. The same year, he was one of three performers of Tuco (2010), choreographed by Karine Ponties in collaboration with Companhia Instável, Portugal. This encounter gave rise to a new project with Karine Ponties: a short solo entitled Benedetto Pacifico (2011), which forms part of the “Scarecrow Cycle” by the choreographer.

In 2011 he founded the outro vento, in this company he created the solo Mulher de vermelho together with Raquel Rua.
