Dominique Pauwels is a multi-faceted composer.
He studied at the Conservatorium in Ghent, at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatorium and IRCAM in Paris.
In 1991 he obtained his “music composition” diploma at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Then he regularly composed for musical, dance, movies, advertising and television. He has written most of the music for the well-known Flemish TV-production house, Woestijnvis-productions (Man bijt hond, Het huis van wantrouwen, De parelvissers & Het Eiland, among others).
Since 2004 Dominique Pauwels is an artist-in-residency at LOD. He collaborates several times with Karine Ponties and the Belgian director Guy Cassiers.
Recently he worked with the Belgian director Fabrice Murgia for a trilogy.
Dominique Pauwels is known for his use of technology and software in music – ‘new’ sounds, combined in his characteristic way, with classic-sounding compositions.
